Doorman was deployed on a server to monitor the hosts in a network. The administrator of the servers had provided temporary sudo access to unprivileged users. One of the server got compromised by an internal user. Analyze the recorded logs and answer the following questions:

  1. On the compromised host, the attacker had downloaded a malicious binary from a remote server using wget utility. Provide the URL from which the binary was downloaded.
  2. On the compromised host, the sysadmin had pre-configured an antivirus to scan the server for malicious content periodically. To avoid the downloaded binary from being detected, the attacker had padded the binary using the dd utility. Provide the name of the file used for padding the malicious binary.
  3. Provide the resulting SHA1 hash of the malicious binary after padding.
  4. The downloaded binary was a multi-purpose utility used by the attacker to perform various operations based on the arguments supplied to it. The attacker had scheduled a cron job to upload the contents of a critical system file to a remote server using the malicious binary. Provide the name of that file that was uploaded to the remote server.
  5. Provide the IP address of the compromised server.


Verify:
