Memcached is a distributed memory caching system used to speed up dynamic database-driven websites. A memcache server is installed in the lab environment (localhost). The objective of this challenge is to interact with the memcache server and answer the following:

Questions:

  1. What is the version of memcache server?
  2. What is the value stored in key "name"?
  3. What is the length of data stored in key “password” ?
  4. How many key value pairs are present on the server initially?
  5. What command will you use to increment value of key “id” by 1
  6. What command will you use to decrement value of key “id” by 3
  7. What command will you use to add key “phone” with value “123454321” ?
  8. What command will you use to replace value of key “nick” to “ed” ?
  9. What command will you use to prepend “house ” to value of key “address” ?
  10. What command will you use to append pin code “,73301” to value of key “address” ?
  11. What command will you use to delete key “old_address”?
  12. What command will you use to invalidate all key values after 30 seconds?

There is a reason we provide unlimited lab time: you can take as much time as you need to solve a lab. However, we realize that sometimes hints might be necessary to keep you motivated!

We currently provide technical support limited to:

  • Giving hints for a lab exercise
  • In rare circumstances, if you have totally given up (NO!!!) then tell you how to solve it. This will be limited to sharing the solution video or lab report
  • A lab exercise fails to load or has errors in it
