Sysdig capture of a malware running on an infected system is provided on the machine. The trace file "trace.scap" is present in the home directory of the root user. You have to use Sysdig command line utility or Csysdig to analyze the trace and answer the following questions:

  1. A sensitive system file has been posted to a remote HTTP server. Provide the full path of that file.
  2. A service running on the system has added a backdoor user. What is the name of that user?
  3. A TCP connection is established with a remote machine. What is the IP address of the remote machine?
  4. A suspicious service running on the system may have sent a file to a remote server using TCP connection. Locate the file content and retrieve the flag from it.
  5. A file was downloaded to the machine from a remote server using a well-known utility. Locate the file content and retrieve the flag from it.
  6. What is the password hash of the backdoor user?

Technical Support for this Lab:

There is a reason we provide unlimited lab time: you can take as much time as you need to solve a lab. However, we realize that sometimes hints might be necessary to keep you motivated!

We currently provide technical support limited to:

  • Giving hints for a lab exercise
  • In rare circumstances, if you have totally given up (NO!!!) then tell you how to solve it. This will be limited to sharing the solution video or lab report
  • A lab exercise fails to load or has errors in it

If you need technical support, please email  attackdefense@pentesteracademy.com  clearly mention the name and link of the lab exercise and other essential details. The more descriptive you are, the faster we can help you. We will get back to you within 24 hours or less.
