JTI Cache Overflow - MiTM
rest-jwt-expert | Level: Easy | Total Lab Runs: 0 | Premium Lab |
The JTI (JWT ID) claim provides a unique identifier for a JWT token. It can be used to prevent the token from being replayed.
Dummy Bank had launched a simple transaction API for its end-users. The users of the API get $100 balance as a reward, which could be redeemed only once. Additionally, the bank offers a Golden Ticket to the users who have their account balance greater than $5000.
Issue:
The transaction API expects a unique ID token (that it has not received before) in every request. The redeem token is treated specially and is assigned ID 1. The developers used a small cache to store these IDs and henceforth, after ID 1000, the ID counter wraps around (that is, the token expected after the one having ID 10000 must have ID 1).
Objective: Your task is to get the Golden Ticket.
Instructions:
- This lab is dedicated to you! No other users are on this network :)
- Once you start the lab, you will have access to a Kali GUI instance.
- Your Kali instance has an interface with IP address 192.X.Y.2. Run "ifconfig" to know the values of X and Y.
- The transaction API should be running on port 5000 on the machine located at the IP address 192.X.Y.3.
- Do not attack the gateway located at IP address 192.X.Y.1
